BML Season starts with a second place
Posted by Andy on the 7th of March, 2010
Our second visit to Edlington in a month was almost a carbon copy of the Pocklington gala with the lead swapping between ourselves and Edlington throughout.
The gala was started by Morgan in her first gala for the club and she didn't disappoint as she was the girl's 10 year old team! Four personal bests were her reward. The 14 year old girls team was very similar with Sasha swimming three of the races and supported by Zara in the breaststroke.
There was a flurry of first places and the lead that Edlington had built in the early races was whittled down - the backstroke seems to be our stroke at the moment with five out of eight victories.
The swimmers performed well in all age groups and the team spirit is fantastic to witness with the kids cheering on their team mates in all events.
One notable achievement today was Jacob Greenhalgh finally capturing his first A grade time in the 50m freestyle, he has joined the list of A graders and this is an accolade that we hope that everyone can aspire to in our club.
The final result was Edlington 157, Rossington 151 and Minsthorpe 111. There was a total of 46 personal bests on the day - a whopping total.
Well done to all the swimmers and to the officials, team managers and parents for coming along to cheer on the team.
