Great Team Spirit shines through again

Rossington's first visit to Thorne for the first time in years provided another example of the tenacity that exemplifies the fighting spirit always shown by the RASCAL's swimmers. This fourth place didn't feel like a defeat because the swimmers performed at their peak once again.

The BML is proving to be a competitive league this year with Thorne, Scunthorpe and Edlington all turning out strong teams and the teams still remaining within touching distance of Rossington with a run of first places bringing the teams closer together - well done to everyone for swimming your hearts out.

There were too many great performances to mention in this article but we'd like to welcome on board Owen Priestly-Taylor, Emily Maynard and Hannelore Southern who all received their first RASCAL's cap today and sorry to Megan Flint who we forgot to mention last time.

The final result was Scunthorpe 141, Edlington 136, Thorne 113, Rossington 98

Well done to all the swimmers and thank you to all the poolside helpers. The Personal Best times have now been added to the results, the Sprint Ladder will be updated as well as the PB database watch this space.

Equal third and Rossington RASCALS keep getting better

Edlington was the venue again for the RASCALS and it was probably the most exciting gala this year. The squad is getting stronger and the individual swimmers are living up to their potential with all the hours of training paying off in gala points.

It is difficult to pick out individual performances with swimmers swimming up age groups and filling in for missing team mates; notable relay performances came from Aaron, Sasha, Jessica Gillatt and Joshua as well as the open age boys newly behatted super team and we cannot praise Lauren Walker enough for swimming all the 10 year old girl individuals.

Nearly every race was close and the spectators definitely got value for money with finger touch finishes the order of the day - this is the fighting spirit that we have become used to and our swimmers did us proud.

The final result of the BML Round 2 was 1st Thorne 133, 2nd Edlington 128 and equal 3rd Rossington and Scunthorpe on 106.

Well done swimmers and thank you to all the officials and poolside assistants. The next Barnsley Minors League gala is being held by Thorne Tigers at Thorne Sports Centre.

Yorkshire success for RASCALS swimmers

Rossington RASCALS swimmers turn in good performance for Doncaster DARTES at the YASA Age Group Championships, on 24th February 2008 at Leeds.

Well done to 10 year old swimmer Heidi Smith who finished 21st in her first Championship outing in the 200m Individual Medley.

Congratulations to Emma Humphreys on her 3rd place in the 100m Butterfly, 5th place in the 200m Breaststroke and her 8th in the 200m Backstroke.
