This lane introduces swimmers to length swimming in lanes. Swimmers should be able to swim 1 length Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Breastroke. Swimmers should be able to swim ½ length Butterfly. Teaching will concentrate on improving strokes and stamina. Other training will include ‘gala Skills' i.e. starts, dives, turns, finishes and basic ASA rules |

A Squad
This group is known as the Training Squad. Training programmes are prepared for different levels of ability over 4 lanes for 1 hour each session.

Progression from lane 4 for swimmers who are showing enthusiasm, ability to train well and regularly. Swimmers in this lane will have shown improvements in timings and the potential to participate in competitive swimming to a high standard |

Swimmers moved into this lane will have developed good training habits and strokes of a good standard Swimmers will be required to show enthusiasm, commitment and discipline |

The top training lane in the club Swimmers in this lane should be able to complete at least 95% of the programme provided. They will be expected to swim 2,800 - 3,000 metres in an hour. |
Whenever possible, swimmers should make an effort to attend all training sessions although the club rules state only 2 - 3
Movement within the squad is the responsibility of the Chief Coach who will consult Lane Coaches.
Movement will be based on the potential and attitude of the swimmers and not solely on times achieved.
All swimmers who enter this squad are expected to represent Rossington ASC in swimming galas when required.
